The Hazrat Sayyed Ali Mira Datar Dargah, located in Gulbarga, is one of India’s largest and oldest Sufi shrines. Built in the 15th century by Sultan Ahmad Shah, the Dargah has been designed in accordance with traditional Islamic architecture. The main structure is designed in the architectural style of the 15th century, and is surrounded by a number of smaller ancillary structures. The main mausoleum is square in plan and is 23.6 meters in length on each side. It is enclosed by a series of walls with four gateways in the centre of each side. The main monument is built in a blend of Islamic, Mughal and Persian architectural styles. The mausoleum is covered by an imposing domed roof, which has a series of ornate circular windows. The walls of the structure are adorned with a variety of fine decorations and stucco work. Inside the main mausoleum, there is an octagonal platform surrounded by four minarets. Each minaret has four floors, with a tower crowning the minarets. Inside the main mausoleum, there are several tombs, depicting the tombs of the various members of the royal family. The tombs are a beautiful blend of marble, stucco, mosaic, woodwork and gold. Outside the main mausoleum, there are several buildings, such as a mosque, an Islamic school, a library, a baradari and a well.
