.The Jama Masjid of Malappuram was built in the year of 1417 AD by Malik bin Dinar, an eminent scholar from Arabia who had come to Malappuram after completing his studies from Mecca and Madina. Sultan Fathima Beevi, the aunt of Tipu Sultan, also took a part in its construction.
