Overview:
Saad-At-Ullah Khan Mosque, Gingee is an ancient mosque located in the Musiri taluk of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The mosque is the oldest structure in the region and dates back to the 15th century. It was built by the famous architect, Saad-At-Ullah Khan, during the rule of the Vijayanagar Empire. The mosque was built in the architectural style of Vaastu Shastra, as well as with elements of Islamic design. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The mosque is made up of various stones and adorned with a series of Islamic features and motifs such as the crescent and star, arched perforations, and intricate brushwork. The main entrance to the compound is a large arched gate, which is flanked by two smaller gates. The interior of the mosque is divided into two sections, the front courtyard and the main prayer hall.
