Architecture:

The Babri Masjid in Ayodhya was a pre-Mughal structure built during the period of the Mughal emperor Babur during the 16th century. The mosque was built upon an existing Hindu temple that traditionally marks the birthplace of the God Rama, a central figure in Hindu mythology. The mosque was built in the style of Indo-Islamic Mughal architecture with three domes over the central prayer area, with two minarets at the entrance of the prayer area and four small corner towers. The mosque was built of stone-bricks and surmounted by three large domes and several smaller domes along the walls. The main door was decorated with inscriptions of Koranic quotations. The mosque also had an outer enclosure wall and a two-tiered main gateway. On the inner side of the mosque, the walls were decorated with a band of inscriptions of Koranic quotations. The mosque was situated in a raised platform surrounded by open courtyards. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
