, Markaz Jama Masjid is one of the oldest mosques in India. It is located in Dindigul in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The mosque was built in 1690 by the then ruler of Dindigul, Tipu Sultan. This mosque is unique in its architecture and adorned with intricate carvings, a typical feature of south Indian Islamic architecture. It is the largest mosque in the district and can accommodate as many as 2,500 people for salah prayer. The Markaz Jama Masjid is also famous for its unique policy of allowing entry to all religions, regardless of the faith of the visitor. The Markaz Jama Masjid in Dindigul, India is a mosque located in the historic center of the city, near the famed Meenakshi Amman temple. Built in 1845, the mosque is a fine example of Islamic architecture in Tamil Nadu. Its main features are its two minarets on either side of the entrance and an impressive central dome. The central courtyard is paved with large marble slabs and has ornate carvings and relief work adorning almost every available space. The interior walls are decorated with beautiful calligraphy and delicate wasli paper paintings, while the focal point of the mosque is the central domed prayer hall for which its designers, the Ismaili brothers, are credited with constructing. The prayer hall has a beautiful prayer platform in the middle and a large carpet that covers the entire hall area. The whole building is adorned with intricate floral and geometric designs that are unique to the region. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Visiting Hours:

The Markaz Jama Masjid in Dindigul is open for visitors seven days a week, from 5am to 10pm. However, it is closed during the time of prayer. best mosque in the world.

Travel Information:

Markaz Jama Masjid is one of the most famous mosques in Dindigul, India. The mosque is located near the junction of Dindigul-Bengaluru Highway and Kozhumam Road, about 5 km from the city centre. The best way to reach Markaz Jama Masjid is by taking a local bus from Dindigul. Buses run every 10 minutes and a one-way journey takes about 15 minutes. Alternatively, one can also take a taxi from Dindigul, although the fare may be slightly higher than that of the bus. The journey will take about 10 minutes in a taxi. It is also possible to reach the mosque by taking a local auto-rickshaw. Auto-rickshaws are usually available outside the city centre and fares will start from INR 35.
