Brief History:
: Located near Isini Masjid in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Panj Pir Dargah is a Sufi shrine and a revered pilgrimage site for the people of Ahmedabad. The shrine is dedicated to five Sufi masters who are believed to have dedicated their entire lives preaching Islamic culture and spread the message of peace and harmony. The five Sufi masters are Makhdum Shah Kalandar, Mian Mir, Shah Quli Khan, Makhdum Ghayasuddin and Shah Kalandar. The Dargah is visited by devotees, local and foreign, for blessings and seeking peace. It has great religious significance among the Sufi followers and is known for its annual fair which is held around 23 April to 7 May. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Panj Pir Dargah in Ahmedabad is an example of Islamic architecture. The main structure of the complex is made up of two Majaars (tombs) giving it a symmetrical shape. The main tomb is dedicated to the Panj Pirs (Five Saints). The façade is embellished with colourful and ornate designs and includes two minarets and a small entrance gate. The overall architecture of the complex is an excellent example of Indo-Islamic architecture. The interior of the complex consists of several domes and niches and is decorated with intricate stonework and colourful paintings. Inside the central tomb are five graves belonging to the Five Saints for whom the Dargah is dedicated. The entire complex has a very peaceful and serene atmosphere, with lots of birds chirping around and a lot of greenery around. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
