Brief History:
Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra is a mosque and archaeological site located in the city of Ajmer, Rajasthan, India. It was built in the year 1193 AD by Qutbuddin Aibak, founder of the Delhi Sultanate. The mosque is said to be the oldest surviving example of Indo-Islamic architecture in the country. The mosque is an important monument of Islamic architecture and was a major center of Islamic learning in its time. The mosque is noted for its unique blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture, and is thought to be an example of early Indo-Islamic architecture, which is very rare. It has a large hall with seven bays which are divided by four columns covered in brilliant calligraphy. The interior walls of the mosque are decorated with intricate floral designs, and the minarets of the mosque are adorned with verses from the Qur'an. The mosque stands as an important example of the synthesis of Hindu and Muslim architectural styles. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Adhai Din Ka Jhonpra is located in Ajmer, India, and is an Islamic architectural monument dating back to the 12th century. This mosque-temple complex is made up of many parts and features, including several domes, a cenotaph, a prayer hall, and the ruins of two temples. The dome-like structure is constructed with sandstone and marble, along with intricate stone carvings. The cenotaph is inscribed with inscriptions from the Quran, while the prayer hall has four curved arches which lead to a large central chamber. The two temples, however, are mostly in ruins, although the walls are still partially intact, revealing their intricate architecture. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
