Brief History:
is a two-storied mosque situated in the heart of Gobindaganj, Gaibandha district, Bangladesh. The mosque is believed to have been built during the 16-17th century. The mosque has an elegant front facade with a decorated central mihrab and a large prayer hall. The mosque is constructed of brick and has a flat roof and four minarets. The floor of the mosque is covered with intricate stone tiles from the Mughal period. The walls of the mosque are decorated with intricate carvings and calligraphic inscriptions. The mosque is also known for its historic importance and is a popular tourist destination in the region. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bangladesh which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Gobindaganj Jame Mosque of Gaibandha in Bangladesh was built in the 11th century. The mosque follows the typical design of mosques of the 11th century Bengal, which is a center courtyard with four domed pavilions placed at its four corners. This courtyard is surrounded by four walls, each lined with a row of pillars and topped off with stucco domes. The prayer hall has a single large mihrab flanked by two double-arched entrances. The exterior walls are plastered with intricate floral and geometric designs. On the sides of the main structure, there are two minarets, each topped off with a brick dome and a chattri. The mosque is an excellent example of traditional Islamic architecture and has survived for centuries due to its impeccable construction. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
