Brief History:
is that it is one of the oldest mosques in Manama, Bahrain's capital, and dates back to the late 18th century. It was restored in 2018 and is now open to the public for worship and visitors who want to learn more about Bahrain and its religious history. The mosque is decorated with intricate patterns and multi-colored tiles and features a beautiful prayer hall and a minaret. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bahrain which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Zinj Mosque is a grand example of Islamic architecture as it was built in the early sixteenth century. The mosque has a large central dome and two adjacent minarets. The central dome is crowned with a kalash that is topped by a latticework of brass, which then faces westwards towards Mecca. On either side of the dome, there are two cylindrical minarets and two small rooms at the base of the minarets. The interior walls of the mosque are decorated with red and white marble and feature several geometric and floral motifs. The floors are done in carpets to give it a rich feel, and the roof is decorated with elaborate woodwork. The exterior of the mosque is covered in white stucco and features tastefully designed patterns. The courtyard of the mosque is surrounded by a garden filled with trees and decorative elements. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
