Brief History:
Diraz Mosque is located in the village of Diraz, about 20 kilometers from Manama, the capital city of Bahrain. It was built in the late 19th century, originally as a small mamluk madrasa and was given to the people of Diraz by Bani Utbah ruler, then in the Bahraini Royal Court. The Mosque is the home of the Shia leader Sheikh Isa ibn Salman Al Khalifa, who died in 1932. The Mosque has undergone several renovation works over the years and is a well-known landmark in the region. It is a beautiful building with seven entrances and three large iwans.The inside contains multiple stairways, a communion area, and four octagonal minarets. The prayer area has been renovated many times and can hold up to 500 worshippers. It is also a popular place for visitors and tourists for its unique brickwork. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bahrain which you must visit.

The Diraz Mosque is a mosque located in the village of Diraz in Bahrain. The mosque is one of the most iconic structures of its kind in the Arab world and comprises a prayer hall, a central courtyard, and a four-domed structure, featuring grand arcades and geometric engraved decorations. The mosque is believed to have been constructed out of red stone bricks, with its interior incorporating motifs of local textiles and pottery. The exterior walls of the facility are adorned with horseshoe arches and muqarnas carved with geometric decorations. The distinctive Diraz minaret also contributes to the building’s uniqueness, featuring an unusual staircase of spiraling carved stones. This landmark also hosts an important archaeological collection and holy book library. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
Visiting Hours:
Diraz Mosque is open to visitors on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 7 am to 8 pm. On Fridays, the opening hours are from 1 pm to 8 pm. The mosque is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. best mosque in the world.
