Brief History:
Tubli Mosque is an ancient Islamic monument located in the rural area of Tubli, Bahrain. It is believed to have been built over a thousand years ago and is believed to have been the first in the series of Islamic-style mosques in Bahrain. It is considered to be the oldest surviving Islamic-style mosque in Bahrain. The mosque features two separate prayer halls and a large courtyard. The mosque also includes a mihrab, a minbar, and a niche for making the adhan, the Muslim call to prayer. The mosque is also noted for its ornamental brickwork and extensive use of geometric designs. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bahrain which you must visit.
Architecture:
The architecture of Tubli Mosque is an example of traditional Shiite Islamic architecture, which is also seen in other parts of Bahrain. The mosque, built in the early 17th century, was constructed using simple building materials including mud bricks and coral stone. The single-room mosque has a single large domed mihrab at its south end, which was built to indicate the direction of the qiblah (the direction of Mecca). The mosque features crenelated walls, and several small domes decorate its exterior. The interior features intricate Islamic calligraphy and floral designs on the walls and ceiling, and four slender columns support the dome. The entrance to the mosque is framed by two large archways, and two minarets flank the building, completing the traditional Islamic architectural aesthetic. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
