Brief History:
is located in the North West corner of Bahrain and is known for its spiritual history and cultural significance. Built in 1710, the mosque was the centre of the Shahrakan community, which had been relocated to Bahrain from Iraq in the 17th century. The mosque is home to many unique forms of Islamic architecture, including a rare stone mihrab featuring an ornamental façade and intricate carvings. It was also the site of a number of religious festivals, and at one point hosted a large annual Zar ceremony. It is one of the most famous mosque in Bahrain which you must visit.
Architecture:
Shahrakan Mosque is a major mosque in Manama, Bahrain. It dates from the 18th century and was constructed for the ruling Al-Khalifa family. The building has a traditional Islamic architectural style, with two tall minarets that rise above the roofline. The main prayer hall of the mosque is surrounded by four minarets, which were designed to bring light into the prayer hall. The interior of the mosque is decorated with colorful tiles, marble columns, and decorative carvings. The main prayer hall is a large rectangular space, with the mihrab pointing towards the direction of Mecca. The mosque also features a courtyard. This is where worshippers can relax and participate in social activities. The courtyard also includes a major fountain that is situated at the center of the courtyard. There is also a domed structure that is located on one side of the courtyard, providing an area for recitation of the Quran. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
Visiting Hours:
Shahrakan Mosque is located in Manama, Bahrain. The visiting hours of the mosque are 7:30am to 12:30pm and 4:30pm to 8:00pm. It is closed during lunch time and visitors are asked not to enter the mosque after dark or during prayer time. The mosque is open for visitors of all faiths. best mosque in the world.
