Architecture:

Al Dair Mosque is located in the Northern Governorate of Bahrain and is one of the oldest mosques in the country. The mosque was redesigned in the 17th century with a traditional, central-plan architecture unique to the region. The mosque has three floors comprising the prayer hall, mihrab, and minbar. The ornate patterns and traditional Islamic elements of the building make it one of the most beautiful mosques in Bahrain. The mosque is built in the Sha’bi style, with six circular columns in the middle of the prayer hall that support the main dome, and four windows on the east, west, north, and south side of the building. Smaller domes surrounding the main one provide additional light. A qibla wall and mihrab face the Ka’aba in Mecca, and ornately decorated ornamentation can be found across the walls. The mosque also has a tall minaret in the center of the building, giving it a distinct shape. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
