Salzburg Schloss Mirabell, or officially Schloss Mirabell, is a palace in Salzburg, Austria. It is located in the northern part of the city and was built under the direction of Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau in 1606. The exterior of the palace was designed in the Italian baroque style. The walls are adorned with sculptures, and the central balcony was designed by sculptor Erasmus Grasser. Inside, the palace contains many magnificent works of art, including frescoes by Johann Michael Rottmayr. The palace has a long history of royal insight and was once the home of Archbishops of Salzburg, as well as the Duke of Salzburg in the 18th century. The Archbishops gave the palace to the Duke, who then created the large baroque garden. In 1818, ownership of the palace passed to the city of Salzburg, and the gardens became a public park.
