Basilika Sonntagberg is an historic Baroque pilgrimage site in Austria. It is situated on a hillside overlooking the Ybbstal Valley and is one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in Europe. The pilgrimage church is dedicated to Saint Benedict of Nursia and has served as the spiritual center of the Mahr tractors since its construction in 1720. The Basilika serves as the architectural center of the village of Sonntagberg located in Lower Austria.

History:
Basilika Sonntagberg was commissioned by Count Georg Alan von Mahr and built between 1720 and 1736 on the site of an 18th century monastery. The pilgrimage church was built in an Italian Baroque style and its interior is filled with ornate marble and gold décor. In 1770, the church became a pilgrimage site for the Mahrs and the surrounding villages. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Austria.
