Kirche St. Franziskus von Assisi is a Roman Catholic church located in the district of Glockenbach, Munich, Germany. It is dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi. The first church building at this location was built in 1617. The current building dates from 1768 and was designed by the renowned German neoclassical architect, Leo von Klenze. The church is one of the most important historic buildings in Munich, and is considered to be a masterpiece of Rococo architecture. The facade is decorated with reliefs depicting the life of St. Francis of Assisi in a classic rococo style. Inside, the church is filled with Baroque and Rococo artwork, including a large mural depicting the life of the saint. The church also contains several chapels dedicated to individual saints, as well as a baptistery and a crypt containing the remains of several prominent individuals. In addition to its religious and historical importance, Kirche St. Franziskus von Assisi is also the site of the annual Christopher Street Day parade, which celebrates lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rights and culture.
