History:

Al Qasba Park in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, is one of the city’s most popular attractions. The park opened to the public in 2004, but its history dates back much earlier. The area of the park was originally the Sharjah dhow harbor, a significant port of call for Indian and Arabic merchants. Over the years, the area fell into disrepair and much of it was closed off to the public. In 2003, the government of Sharjah undertook a project to revamp the area and turn it into a public park. Many local and international companies contributed to the project, including the UAE government, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Emaar Properties, and ADNEC.
