History:

In 1980, the construction of Jumeirah Beach Park in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, began as part of the UAE’s mission to establish itself as a world-class tourist destination. Built on 5 hectares of reclaimed land, the park was designed to provide the public with access to nature and recreational activities such as fishing, swimming and beach volleyball. Jumeirah Beach Park was officially inaugurated by Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum in December 1983. The park included various amenities such as a playground, watch tower, cafeteria, and a pool with lifeguards. It also had many beaches and man-made swim-friendly lagoons. By the late 1980s, Jumeirah Beach had become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dubai. The park also featured an Amphitheater that hosted many concerts and other events, firstly during the Christmas and New Year holidays, and then during the summer season. A boardwalk was later added along the beach for beachfront promenade. In 2003, Jumeirah Beach Park underwent a major renovation, which included the development of facilities such as a swimming pool, children’s pool, spas, and pools for both adults and children. The park also incorporated a number of additional features including a mini-golf course, basketball and football courts, playgrounds and souvenir shops. Today, Jumeirah Beach Park is one of the most frequently visited tourist attractions in Dubai, with several hundred thousand visitors each year. The park boasts a wide range of activities and attractions, from swimming in the lagoons to special events.
