Brief History:

Dolmabahçe Mosque is the first and largest mosque in Istanbul. It was built in 1831 by the then Sultan, Abdulmecit I. The Sultan named the mosque after the Ottoman royal palace of Dolmabahçe, which was located next to the mosque. Dolmabahçe Mosque underwent renovation and expansion in the early 20th century. The combined mosque-palace complex, which had been abandoned since the Ottoman Empire’s fall in 1923, has been restored and turned into a museum. Today, Dolmabahçe Mosque is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Istanbul. The mosque is visited by thousands of people a day and it is one of the few mosques that allow non-Muslims to enter. It is one of the most famous mosque in Turkey which you must visit.

Getting to Dolmabahçe Mosque: Public Transport: The easiest way to get to Dolmabahçe Mosque is by taking the Metro to the Dolmabahçe station. Once at the station, the mosque is only a 10 minute walk away. By Bus: You can also take public buses that head to Dolmabahçe Mosque. The buses include; 43E, 43ET, 55E, 96T, 99D and 108E, all of which come from different locations. By Car: You can also drive and park near the mosque, as there are several parking lots nearby. By Boat: If arriving in Istanbul by boat, you can take a ferry from either Karaköy or Eminönü and get off at Dolmabahçe pier, from which the mosque is only a 5 minute walk away. beautiful masjid.
