The Bursa Grand Mosque, known in Turkish as Ulu Cami, is a large and important mosque located in the old city of Bursa, Turkey. It was constructed between the years 1396 and 1399 during the reign of Sultan Bayezid I and is considered to be one of the most important examples of Ottoman architecture. The mosque is constructed using white marble blocks and it has a large rectangular plan and is surrounded by an open courtyard and a garden. The exterior façade of the mosque is dominated by a soaring minaret, and the main entrance is located on the courtyard side of the building and is surrounded by a large set of stairs. The mosque has three main interiors, the first consists of a large central prayer hall surrounded on all sides by semicircular arcades and flanked by two rectangular side halls. These two spaces are topped with semi-domes which are decorated with intricate Islamic geometric patterns. The other two interior spaces are a domed vestibule and an antechamber which lead into the prayer hall and the side halls, respectively. This mosque stands as one of the most important examples of early Ottoman religious architecture. Its exquisitely decorated interior and exterior, as well as its large size, makes it one of the most impressive mosques in Turkey. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
