History:

Alanya Shipyard is one of the oldest and most important shipyards in Turkey, located in Antalya. The shipyard traces its origins back to the Ottoman period, during which it was used to build merchant ships, boats and ferries. During the Republic period, many commercial and military vessels were launched from the docks here. In the 1950s, the yard undertook overhauls and repairs of various types of ships, such as tankers and freighters, and also manufactured fishing boats and ferries. It was also involved in the construction of the first ferryboat in Turkey, called the ‘Anatolian Star’. In 1962, the shipyard was modernised and expanded with the help of German shipbuilders and engineers. This enabled Alanya Shipyard to undertake a variety of shipbuilding projects, such as the construction of the cruise ships ‘Anadolu’ and ‘Havadis’ in the 1980s. In 1988, Alanya Shipyard entered the military shipbuilding sector with a project to construct a corvette for the Turkish Navy. The shipyard continues to be a major player in the commercial sector, and is involved in the construction and overhaul of ferries, tugs and military vessels.
