Worship Method:
The worship at Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy Temple in Vemulawada involves elaborate rituals and ceremonies. Each day starts with Thottilu, a ritual consisting of offering of silk robes to Lord Sri Rajarajeshwara and reciting of the Vedic mantras. This is followed by Abhishekam, where Lord Sri Rajarajeshwara is bathed with holy water, milk, curd, honey and other items. The priest performs puja by offering flowers, incense, lamps and other items. Next, Namakam/Chamakam is chanted followed by a special arathi. Then, different Gods and other powerful beings are invoked in special rituals. During the day, the priest performs numerous archana and other rituals, like Agnihotram for Lord Agni, Kumkumarchana, etc., as instructed by the temple. The Ksheerabhishekam is performed in the afternoon, while at the end of the day special arathis, like Pancharatnamarchana and Mukha Karpura Shantivana are performed.
