The worship methodology followed in Thiruvotriyur Thyagaraja Swamy Temple is a mix of Saivite and Vaishnavite rituals. The chief deity of the temple is Lord Shiva, known by several names like Tiruvotriyur Natarajar, Padalanathar, Angalanathar and Irulappa Nathar.
