The Al Rumaylah West Mosque is located in the town of Al Rumaylah in the Batinah region of the Al Sharqiyah South Governorate in Oman. The Mosque was built in 1998 by the order of the late Ruler of Oman, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said. The Mosque is a traditional Omani style mosque, and was designed in the form of an Omani fort. It is made up of four symmetrical towers with an interior courtyard and a pool in the centre. The walls and towers of the Mosque are decorated with Islamic motifs and inscriptions. The towers are connected to the central prayer hall which is covered with a large domed roof, and the entrance is through a large archway in the centre of the Mosque. The courtyard is also enclosed by a wall and gate. The Mosque also has a spire, which is said to be made of the same sacred material as the Kaaba in Mecca.
