The mosque is built in the traditional style, characterized by two stone minarets, two Islamic domes, and an adjacent two-story building which is the prayer hall. It is known to be the oldest surviving mosque in the region, being in use since its completion over 300 years ago. Over time, the mosque has been carefully maintained by the locals, surviving storms, damage, and even wars. It is currently a popular tourist destination and is often featured in photography exhibitions and film shoots. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.

The design includes three domes of varying sizes and a grand minaret in the middle. The mosque also features an array of light fixtures, stained glass windows, and colorful domes. A secondary prayer hall with a capacity of five hundred worshipers is located on the first floor.
