Al Suwayh East South North East Mosque is located in the Al Suwayh district of Muscat, Oman. It was designed by renowned Kuwaiti architect Ahmad Yousuf Al Sayyas. The mosque’s overall design is inspired by traditional Islamic architecture and draws upon a variety of styles and building techniques that were used in the region over the centuries. Paving stones from the nearby stepwell of Wilayat Suwayh are used to form the external walls, which are decorated with intricate brick and stone patterns. Inside, the layout is dominated by a single, central dome which is decorated with colorful glass mosaics that create a stunningly beautiful interior. The dome is surrounded by several smaller domes, minarets and columns. The interior walls are faced with intricate geometric patterns made of painted stucco and a blue-tiled qibla wall points out the direction of Mecca. The courtyard has a large fountain, lush landscaping, and several seating areas for visitors. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
