The Al Qabil West Central Mosque in Oman is a prominent Sunni mosque located in the village of Al Qabil in the Wilayat of Muttrah in the Governorate of Muscat. The mosque is located at the intersection of Al Qabil Ala'a Street and Muttrah Street and is considered to be one of the oldest mosques in Oman. It was built in the early 17th century during the reign of Nasir bin Abi Khazim bin Ali al Hilali, the Governor of Muscat and Oman at the time. The mosque is known for its distinctive architectural style, which features a mix of Arabian and Persian designs. The building is adorned with elaborate carved geometric patterns, painted ceramic luster tilework, and marble strips that line the perimeter of the courtyard. The mosque also contains two minarets, a fountain and a tank surrounded by four stone walls. The building is still used to this day by the local community for prayers and religious activities. The mosque’s exterior walls are made of large brick blocks that combine with a stone-clad façade to give a regal feel to the mosque. The facade of the mosque is additionally adorned with islamic geometric patterns and decorative inscriptions that feature verses from the Qur’an.
