is a historic Islamic prayer house located in the coastal town of Al Qalhat in the Al Batinah region of Oman. It is believed to have been built sometime during the eighteenth century and is known to be one of the oldest extant mosques in the country. The mosque comprises a central prayer space and four small domed structures built out of bricked mud and wood. On its entrance door is an inscription which dates it to 1150 AH (1737 AD). The Al Qalhat North East Mosque is located in Al Qalhat, a small town on the eastern coast of Oman. It is a typical Omani mosque which has a single-aisled prayer hall, a small qibla hall at the end of the hall, and a small courtyard outside the entrance. The architecture of the mosque is mainly traditional Omani style, with red-brown walls, white windows, wooden lattices and pointed arches. The roof is a combination of wood and tile. The prayer hall is divided into three sections or iwans, which are each marked by a low central dome. The qibla wall has several pointed arches, while the courtyard has a wide, arched entrance and four elegant arched windows. The courtyard is tastefully decorated with flowers and has an old well in the center. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Visiting Hours:

There are no direct buses from Muscat International Airport to Al Qalhat, but there are indirect buses that run from Muscat to Sur and then from Sur to Al Qalhat. These buses run several times a day and take about 5-6 hours in total. Taxis and rental cars are also available from Muscat International Airport to Al Qalhat. The journey takes about 3-4 hours depending on traffic. Taxis are the most convenient option for travel to Al Qalhat from around the country.
