It is a very large and imposing structure as it stands 8 stories tall and has a capacity of more than 300 worshipers. The minimalistic design includes an imposing dome that is supported by 12 arches, and huge pillars add to the grandeur of the building. The entire building has been highly decorated using colorful tiles and intricate Islamic calligraphy. The Al Ashkharah West South Mosque is located in the city of Al Ashkharah in the Al Batinah South Governorate of Oman. It was constructed in the late 1980s and consists of a central prayer hall that is surrounded by two minarets. The minarets are connected by arched corridors that open to a large courtyard in the centre of the mosque. The courtyard is defined by a rectangular pool and a green garden on one side, with four white marble iwans (open spaces) on the other side. The prayer hall's interior is decorated with a blue painted ceiling with elaborately carved marble columns and intricate brass lampshades. The walls are adorned with traditional local artwork, and traditional Omani artifacts such as traditional incense burners.
