Al Qabil East South North Mosque is located in the northern region of Al Batina Governorate, in the east of Muscat, the capital city of the Sultanate of Oman. The mosque is named after the four directions of its compass. The mosque is one of the most historical monuments of Oman, built in early 18th-century by Sultan Bin Saif Al Yaarubi and rebuilt during the rule of Nawaz Ali Bin Sallam Al Yaarubi in 1664. It is considered to be one of the most important religious monuments in Oman, as it was used for prayer and religious events. The Mosque consists of a main prayer hall, open courtyard, and a women’s prayer area. The mosque also houses a number of other educational and spiritual establishments, including a Kitaab Salaat and a Hadith Base. It is also home to both a public library and a small private library, which is open to both visitors and worshipers. Architecture:
The Al Qabil East South North Mosque in Oman is an example of traditional Omani Islamic architecture. The mosque was completed in December 2016. The building is a two-story structure constructed from local limestone and coral blocks. The main entrance of the mosque, located on the eastern façade, is decorated with traditional Islamic and Arabian plaster work. The mosque features a main prayer hall on the ground floor and an open-air courtyard on the upper level with minarets on either side. The exterior of the building is also adorned with traditional Islamic calligraphic designs, arches, and ornamental stucco work.
