It was originally established in 1998 but was temporarily closed down due to the expansion of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. The mosque features a golden dome and lavish decorations. Al Jalan Mosque is a traditional mosque designed in the architectural style of the Gulf region. The interior incorporates a large central prayer hall roofed by nine small wooden domes and flanked by two courtyards. There is a pulpit to the rear of the prayer hall with intricate latticework carved from Teak wood, and the Qibla wall is decorated with inscriptions from the Quran. Al Jalan Mosque in Oman is open to visitors every day, except Fridays and official public holidays declared by the government.
