: The Al Ashkharah West Central South North Mosque is located in the city of Al Ashkharah in the eastern region of Oman. The mosque was built in 2003 and is the largest in the city. The Mosque has an Iraqi-style square minaret and a prayer hall with a capacity of over 1,000 worshipers. The Mosque is used to host a variety of services, such as congregational prayer, recitation of the Qur’an, and religious lectures. Notable features of the Mosque include white marble pillars, an interior pool with a fountain, and sophisticated lighting. The Mosque stands as a symbol of tolerance in the region since it welcomes Muslims, non-Muslims, and foreigners alike. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.

Architecture:

The Al Ashkharah West Mosque is a typically Omani style mosque, with a large rectangular prayer hall surrounded by an external prayer space. The prayer hall includes four main internal columns and is built in stone blocks and plastered walls with a flat roof. The mosque is decorated with Arabic inscriptions and geometric shapes. The central courtyard features a small cupola and a small minaret. On the left side of the courtyard is the Ablution block and at the entrance of the mosque is the main gate with a wooden door. The North and South sides of the mosque feature large windows and two entrances, respectively. The mosque also features a library located on the second floor which includes religious study materials and books. Additionally, the mosque grounds include a large garden and a fountain. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Visiting Hours:

Al Ashkharah Mosque is open for the five daily prayers. Visitors/tourists are welcome durinjg the prayer times, with appropriate traditional attire (no shorts or skirts), and are requested to remove their shoes before entering the prayer hall.
