: Al Ghubrah South Central North Mosque is located in the Wilayat (Governorate) of Muscat, Oman and was established in 1980. It is the biggest mosque in the central region and the first mosque built in the same region. The mosque was built by Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said in commemoration of the first 1000 years of Islamic history in Oman. It is used by a large number of Muslims who form a diverse community. The mosque is also used for public gatherings and prayer services. The architecture of the mosque includes a main prayer hall, two side halls, two minarets and a large dome. The interior is adorned with Islamic calligraphy and ornamental designs. The exterior is made of golden and green tiles. The mosque is located in a public park and is surrounded by lush gardens. The Al Ghubrah South Central North Mosque in Oman is of a modern design. The building is made of white marble and is shaped like an octagon. The roof is made of steel and glass panels and is supported by a steel frame. The central prayer hall is surrounded by four separate prayer halls for the south, east, north and west directions. The two large towers to either side of the prayer hall are designed to symbolize the two main pillars of Noah’s Ark, according to Islamic tradition. The roof of the building is colored with blue and white tiles in order to commemorate the sea voyage undertaken by Prophet Noah. The complex also includes an ablution area and a library. It has been designed to promote a sense of unity and tolerance among different religions and to provide a space for learning and reflection.
