Brief History:
The Jameh Mosque of Kashan is an ancient Islamic structure located in the city of Kashan, Iran. It is believed to have been built in the 7th or 8th century, making it one of the oldest mosques in Iran. The mosque is well known for its intricate tilework, which has recently been restored using traditional methods. With two large courtyards, the mosque has two iwans as well as several domes and minarets on the outside. The mosque has been registered as a national heritage site. Many religious and cultural activities have been held within the walls of the mosque including Quran recitals and lectures from prominent scholars. Architecture:
The Jameh Mosque of Kashan is a magnificent example of traditional Iranian architecture. It is over a thousand years old and has the largest dome in the world. The mosque was built during the Seljuk dynasty and is renowned for its intricate tilework and delicate stucco. The walls and ceilin are adorned with colorful geometric and floral mosaics. The interior includes a large, domed central space flanked by two smaller domed side wings. A tall, stone-carved minaret and a large stone-carved dome form the mosque's signature silhouette. The Mosque has undergone several restorations and renovations over the years, with the most recent being in 2016. The Jameh Mosque of Kashan is a symbol of grandeur and architectural sophistication and a testament to the skill and creativity of the Iranian artisans and builders of the past. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
