Brief History:
The Jâmeh Mosque of Borujerd in Iran was built in 892 A.D. during the rule of the Buyid dynasty. It is one of the oldest mosques in Iran, and one of the earliest surviving examples of Islamic architecture in the Central Zagros mountain region. It is a two-storey brick mosque, featuring a high iwan, an open courtyard and various pointed arches. The roof of the mosque is topped with two onion-dome shaped minarets. Its decorations are mainly composed of terracotta stone in intricate floral and geometric patterns. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful and well-preserved ancient monuments in Iran. The Jameh Mosque of Borujerd is a 10th century Islamic mosque located in the city of Borujerd, Iran. The architecture of the mosque is traditional Persian, featuring four iwans, an interior courtyard, and minarets. The two main iwans are decorated with intricate Mashrabiya screenwork, and other portions of the mosque feature elaborate stucco designs. The main iwans also boast intricate muqarnas ceilings and Muqarnas pillars. The mosque also includes several stained glass windows and an intricate tiled mihrab. The minarets are relatively short in comparison to other Islamic minarets, and are decorated with colorful tiles, giving them a unique ornamental appearance. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
