: Masjid Raya Surya Kencana - Bogor is the largest mosque in Bogor city, West Java, Indonesia. It was built in the 1990s under the initiative of the Vice Governor of West Java, Syarif Hidayatullah. The mosque's architect was the late M. Ihsan from Bandung. It is located in the heart of Bogor city, on Jl. Paledang Raya, and is surrounded by the Meruyung Stadium and many edifices. Architecture:

The architecture of Masjid Raya Surya Kencana in Bogor, Indonesia is based on a traditional Islamic style of architecture. The beautiful mosque was built using sandstone imported from Java and is made up of two parts: the main prayer hall and a separate open courtyard. The main prayer hall is a single rectangular hall with five semi-circular domes, resembling those used on mosque in Mecca. The hall opens up to the courtyard with two grand gates on either side. The courtyard is a large open-air area decorated with stone tiles and adorned with sculptures of Islamic symbols depicting peace, beauty, and harmony. The inner dome of the hall is more decorated than the outer two, and also houses an old mihrab (the architectural niche that indicates the direction of Mecca). The walls and floors of the mosque are covered in calligraphic Persian writings, completed by an exquisitely crafted chandelier.
