Brief History:

Al-Kautsar Mosque - also known as Masjid Raya Al-Kautsar - is the largest mosque in Surabaya, Indonesia. It was built in 1939, during the Dutch colonial period. The Islamic architectural elements of the mosque include the main building in white sandstone, four minarets, two entrances and an inner courtyard. There is a cross-shaped pool in front of the building. The minarets were built during an expansion of the mosque in 2001.
