shwara Temple is a Hindu temple located in the village of Vaidyanath, also known as Deoghar, in the state of Jharkhand, India. Vaidyanath Temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, a form of Shiva. It is believed to be the place where Lord Rama, after fulfilling a promise to Ravana, worshipped Lord Shiva. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
Vaidyanath Temple consists of a Sanctum Sanctorum which is built in the Nagara style of architecture. The main entrance to the temple is from the south and there are two separate altars for the idol of Lord Shirnath Mahadev and Goddess Durga respectively. The roof of the sanctum is covered with a gold plated Kalasha. There are two other shrines in the complex of Vaidyanath Temple which are dedicated to Gangadhar, a form of Shiva and the other one is for Laxmi-Narsimha.
