The temple roof is made of granite stones and has carvings of Nandi (the bull of Lord Shiva) and his four sons Agni, Vayu, Ganga, and Surya. There is also evidence of a large water tank (sankula) in the region which is believed to have been constructed by the Chola kings. The temple is also said to have been renovated in the 14th century AD by the Vijayanagara empire.
