Brief History:
is an ancient mosque located in Mysore. Built in 1620 by the ruler of Mysore, King Tippu Sultan, the structure of the mosque combines a traditional Hindu temple-like structure with Islamic architecture. The mosque is known for its impressive arches, domes, and massive pillars which form the perimeter of the building. The interior of the mosque is decorated with colorful paintings depicting scenes from Islamic history. The mosque is a popular tourist destination in Mysore and draws people from all over India. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.
Architecture:
The architecture of Shahi Jama Masjid in Mysore is a mix of Indo-Islamic style, which was popular during the reign of Tipu Sultan. The mosque is built entirely out of red sandstone, with the main building structure having four entrances from four sides. The facade features four tall and graceful minarets, along with two domes studded with semi-precious stones. There is a large open courtyard with the main prayer hall located at the centre. The interiors feature intricate jaalis (grilles) and cravings, with the prayer hall decorated with fine detailed arches, and beautiful stained glass windows. There is also a step well at the back providing access to cold water, and a separate building for ablution. Additionally, the mosque also has four spacious verandahs to accommodate people during festivals and large gatherings. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Shahi Jama Masjid is located in the city of Mysore in Karnataka state of India. It is one of the major points of interest in the city and one of the oldest mosques in the state. The mosque was built by the Muslim ruler, Tipu Sultan of Mysore, in 1784. The mosque is situated near the Mysore Palace and easily accessible by public transport. The nearby airport is the Mysore Airport (MYQ) which is around 13 kilometers away from the city centre. The closest railway station is in Mysore Junction, which is about 4 kilometers away from the mosque.
