Overview:
Parsvanatha Temple is a Jain temple located in the state of Gujarat, India. The temple was built in 17th century and is dedicated to the 23rd Jain tirthankara, Parsvanath. It is one of the main Jain temples in the state and is visited by devotees from all over the world. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple consists of two sections, the kamalapuram and the jantarandalam. The kamalapuram or the main temple is an impressive architectural marvel with beautiful carvings and sculptures. Inside the temple is a large idol of Parsvanath and a pavilion in front of it. The pavilion has beautiful stone slabs and carvings. One of the historical monuments of India,it tells the story of a bygone era.
The temple was built in 1637 CE by a wealthy merchant, Umedraj Valjibhai Ravji, under the patronage of then ruler of Patan, Sultan Muzaffar Shah. The temple has since been restored and renovated several times over the years.
