,Madan Mahal is a fort, also known as Jaivana, located in the city of Jabalpur, in the state of Madhya Pradesh in India. It is situated on a large boulder rock and is perched atop a hill overlooking the city. It was built in 1781 by Parmar Dynasty King Madan Shah and is a symbol of the bravery and valor of the Marathas. The fort is said to have the remains of an old temple built by the Parmar Kings of Jabalpur. The fort is an interesting spot for visitors, containing remnants of two battlements, two staircases, two huge gates and two ponds. Inside the fort, visitors can explore several sculptures and four pillars, constructed in the form of a temple's shikhar. The fort was also the venue for the coronation of Mughal emperor, Akbar, in 1579. There are several interesting legends associated with the fort, such as the myth of the Naubat-e-Rani, where a fountain played the melodies of the song "Kaha gaye jaib — Raja Madan SHA" every day. The fort has been declared as a protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India.
