Narasimha temple In India: History,Facts, & Services
Overview:
Melkote is a renowned pilgrimage centre and is located in the Mandya district, Karnataka. The principal deity of the temple is Cheluvayana Swami (Vishnu), also known as Narasimha. The temple is also popular as ‘Acharya kshetra’, as Saint Ramanujacharya, the founder of Sri vaishnavism sect, visited the place and built the temple. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The main attraction of the temple apart from Lord Narasimha is Manchale Varada, a small silver idol of Sri Ramanujacharya, which is believed to be ‘self-manifested’. Other prominent features of the temple include a Mantap, a Naamam and Navarathri Mantap. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour

• Every full moon day special pooja is conducted in the temple. • The festival of Narasimha Jayanthi (birth of Lord Narasimha) is celebrated with much pomp and enthusiasm. • Devotees usually offer turmeric as a form of worship and it is believed that this removes many of their ‘sins’.Visit one of the famous monuments of India with your friends and family.
