The Mosque North-west of Darya Khan’s Tomb is a historical mosque located in the city of Sahiwal, Punjab, Pakistan. It is situated near the tomb of the famous Sufi saint and ruler, Malik Darya Khan. Built in 1628 AD, the mosque is known for its unique architecture, which combines styles of saracenic, Mughal and Sikh architecture. The mosque is a five-storey structure, built of red sandstone and marble, and is topped with a white marble dome. The exterior walls of the mosque are embellished with tile work and inscriptions from the Quran, while the interior walls are covered in stucco work depicting scenes from the court of Darya Khan. A grand staircase leads to a veranda which overlooks the tomb complex and surrounding landscape. History The Mosque North-west of Darya Khan's Tomb was built in 1628 AD during the rule of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, who visited Sahiwal several times during his reign. It was built by the courtiers of Darya Khan on the orders of Emperor Shah Jahan. After the death of Darya Khan, the mosque was abandoned until British colonialists annexed the region in 1849 and the Mosque was restored by the local government.
