Brief History:
is an old mosque located in the city of Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is said to be built during the Mughal rule in the 16th century. The mosque belongs to a religious group called Jamaat Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat which is a fundamentalist school of Islamic thought. They advocate the fundamentals of Sunni Islam. The mosque is known to be a centre for teaching and propagation of Islamic education in the region. The mosque is also quite popular among the locals who often visit the mosque during festivals and religious occasions. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Markazi Masjid in Bijnor is a beautiful mosque built in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. The mosque has two towers, one of which is a 100-ft high 'minar'. The main structure is a domed hall, composed of alternating red and white marble blocks. The walls of the mosque are adorned with intricate carvings in Hindu architectural style, while the floor is decorated with marble stones. The exterior of the mosque has two entrance gates, one of which is a huge arch with arches. Inside, the mosque is divided into four mihrabs, where devotees perform their prayer. It also houses a Central Hall, which has a richly decorated cupola. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
