, Shahi Masjid Shimoga is an ancient mosque situated in Shimoga. Built in 1608, it is the oldest surviving mosque in Shimoga District. The mosque was probably built by the Mughal emperor Akbar as a token of gratitude to Tipu Sultan for his help in controlling the Nayaka rulers of Shimoga. The structure is characterized by an overall Islamic architecture, with a dome, minarets and a large courtyard. The walls and ceiling have intricate Islamic art and scriptures that stand testament to its ancient heritage. Despite being over four centuries old, the mosque has remained in relatively good condition throughout its life. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.

The Shahi Masjid is said to be one of the most beautiful structures in Shimoga district of India. It is located on the Bailhongal-Shivamooga Road. Built during the 16th century AD by Mughal sultan Ibrahim Adil Shah, it is a beautiful and intricately designed monument. It is a three-storeyed edifice, with ornamental arches, domes, and small turrets. The building is made from granite and lime plaster and features an intricately designed prayer room, a large hall for congregational prayers, and several small chambers. It has magnificent floral designs, which show the skill of the artisans employed to construct it. The main minaret is made of black basalt and is known as the Tower of Victory. The top of the tower is adorned with a crescent and four minarets. The mosque is built on a square base, with the prayer hall containing four minarets on each side, and a dome at the centre. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
