: Jama Masjid, Sangli is a mosque located in Sangli, Maharashtra, India. it was built by Tipu Sultan in 1852. This mosque is visited by thousands of devotees during Ramazan and Idd festivals. The mosque is situated in the center of the town and is considered to be one of the oldest places of worship in Sangli. It is one of the most famous mosque in India which you must visit.

Architecture:

Jama Masjid in Sangli is an important historic landmark in India. Built in the late 17th century, it is a good example of the early Indo-Islamic style of architecture. The main entrance to the structure comes from the East. This is typical of all such buildings in India. The facade of the building is a blend of Hindu and Islamic motifs. The red sandstone arches, minarets, and the central dome with Islamic prayer niche, are all features of that time. The central dome is highlighted by a single white marble piece and there are turrets on its corners. The whole structure is surrounded by a low wall, made of red bricks. The walls also have painted Islamic prayer niches. The interior features a large prayer hall and four aisles, all of which are decorated with Islamic carvings and a variety of colored glass. In the center of the prayer hall is a pulpit which is a one-time feature of these Islamic structures. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Jama Masjid in Sangli is located on the banks of the Krishna River. The masjid was constructed by Tipu Sultan in 1790 and is the largest and oldest masjid in Sangli district. The masjid has two gates and four gates along the way. The outer structure of the main hall is made of red stones and the inner walls are painted with intricate plaster designs. The closest airport to Jama Masjid is Pune International Airport which is about 250 kilometers away. The nearest railway station is Miraj Junction which is about 43 kilometers away. There are frequent buses from both airports to Sangli, and there are also local buses that ply between Miraj Junction and Sangli. Taking the bus from Miraj Junction is the recommended way as it is the fastest way to reach Jama Masjid.
