Jain Tirthankara Idol And Relics Of Old Jain Temple, Melur is a prominent and well preserved religious site near Melur, Tamil Nadu, India. This Jain shrine is located at a place believed to have been associated with Jainism from times immemorial. The inscription of the Pandyan King Billaiya in one of the pillars of the temple suggests that first temple foundation was laid by that king in 1050 AD. The temple has three shrines, one dedicated to Chandraprabha Tirthankara, one dedicated to Sambhavnath Tirthankara, and one orginally dedicated to Parsvanatha Tirthnkara, but since renovated and made a shrine for Neminatha Tirthankara. History:

The temple built in granite houses a beautiful 22 feet tall white marble idol with four faces of Chandraprabha Tirthankara. This was installed in 1577 AD by King Ramanathan at the same place where a wooden statue had been kept in earlier days. The other idols preserved here are that of Adinatha Tirthankara, Parshvanatha Tirthankara, Neminatha Tirthankara, Shantinatha Tirthankara and Sumatinatha Tirthankara. •The uniqueness of this temple lies in the fact that it is the only temple where the idols of all 24 Tirthankaras, including those of the 6 Tirthankaras who are yet to incarnate, are all installed in one single shrine. •A tall pillar made up of granite which is around 12 feet tall, known as 'Manthambigai Malai' is also situated inside the temple premises.
