Hill fort, Rayakkottai is situated near the village of Rayakottai in the Eastern Ghats region of Tamil Nadu, India. It is an 11th century fort and is still in fairly good condition. It was the stronghold of the Dharmapuri taluk and is believed to have been built by King Kongu Raja Maravarman. It is also known for its large and beautiful fields, gardens and ponds. History:

The Hill Fort, Rayakkottai has a fortified wall measuring approximately 844 feet in length. The walls and entrance are made of granite. There are two entrance towers that are flanked by majestic looking battlements. There are four corners of the fort that are also fortified. Inside the fort there is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
