Brief History:

In his lifetime, the Saint had undertaken long religious journeys to cities such as Mecca and Medina in search of knowledge. It is believed that he eventually settled down at Ajmer in Rajasthan in 1190 AD, the same place where the ancient shrine now stands. The Dargah Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti witnesses several ceremonies connected with the death anniversary of Saint Moinuddin Chishti, who is believed to have passed into eternity in 1235 AD. Architecture:

The architecture of the Dargah Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti is a mix of Mughal and Kashmiri architecture. It comprises a double-storied main entrance gate, bi-storied ziarat hall, a Mughal-style pavilion, courtyard, domes and minarets. The golden domes, minarets and arches provide a distinct look to the shrine.  The main entrance gate is embellished with a white marble façade. The entrance is adorned with floral motifs and pierced window frames. The domes and minarets are made of metallic gold with green, blue and turquoise tiles. The ziarat hall is decorated with colorful and intricate glass works. There are a number of tombs within the premises which reflects the history of Sufism in the region. The tomb of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti is made of marble and is surrounded by the tombs of his descendants and that of other famous saints. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
